i found these two items at french connection on boxing day. i love the zipper detailing on the pants and they look my butt look good :) the shirt is so versatile because of all the neutrals in the shirt and i think i'll be wearing it a lot. i got some very cool pants from zara as well and i think they'll be worn to my birthday party :) happy holidays !

busy canvas

My first attempt at print mixing! Whether or not I looked deliberate or a mess, it was still a lot of fun to put together. I think it's easier to start with smaller, more subtle prints. In this outfit, I played up the contrast in colour with a variety of two-tone patterns and textures. (nails in "Iced Spice" by Revlon.)

grace kelly

belt: diesel
dress: forever 21
vest: vintage

i wore this lovely ensemble to my work christmas party. we went to the grace kelly exhibit at the tiff lightbox. it was an amazing day complete with lunch and a limo ride :) the wonderful and iconic wedding dress was at the exhibit along with some of her chanel suits, givenchy dress (very audrey hepburn style) and lots of lovely shoes, sunglasses, hats and jewelry. i think it was difficult for everyone to leave without being inspired by her timeless classic style and to see the taste in each outfit. i even bought two books which have been very helpful! more to come :)

December; the cold is upon us

This time of year makes me think of warm (and cold) string accompaniments. I love peppermint, tea, and peppermint tea from Timothy's. Warm boots and mittens, metallic nails, cozy sweaters. Gift shopping, Christmas parties, building snow castles, walking across frozen streams, my breaths visible puffs in the cold air. And braving the few warmer days in darling tights.

knitted

i actually wore this sweater backwards to play on the trend of wearing sweaters backwards. the colour and shape of the sweater aren't very feminine so i layered two necklaces to jazz it up a bit :) would you ever wear your sweater backwards ?

tarzan

so i got feather extensions put in my hair today...it kind of looks like i walked through a bush right now but i'm hoping that once i've washed and styled by hair a couple times with it in, it'll look better. it's a pretty cool hair accessory for only $25 considering it stays in for about three months!

online shopping

i'm not a big fan of online shopping due to the fact that you can't try on the items and i'm never sure they'll look right (unless i've been brand loyal for a while). my friend natalie showed me this website called nasty gal and i'm completely in love with all the clothes. i adore the scalloped tap shorts and the asymmetric chiffon skirt (both pictured above) and i was just wondering how they fit...have you ever bought anything from them?
i'm definitley considering buying clothes online because its so easy and hassle free. any other online sites you would recommend for clothes that are a different?

Flare leg is not dead

Perhaps I truly belong to a past generation. While skinny jeans have been the prevalent fit since 2004, my larger-thighed self is rather fond of the not-quite-so-'70s-style flare. So when I heard that bell-bottoms were back in trend, I rejoiced in the chance to not stand out in the crowd of tapered legs and ballet flats. Whether the trend has yet to reach Toronto, or just never affected the area where I live (lol I'm not surprised)... or heck, it must've been shortlived! I have no idea.

And so I continued wearing my five (/ten) pairs of jeans- collected since grade six in various washes, but the same fit: the ultra low rise flare leg- like I would anyway, of course. Besides bootcut jeans, they are great at elongating the lower half of your body in heels. Here's three ways to wear them, but the key rule to pulling this off? Feel/look/be artsy and have fun (and excuse the puns).
