i love her mix of california cool and girly. she goes through everything a girl should have in her wardrobe and even has handy tips on how to organize your wardrobe. with hair and make-up tips as well, this is definitely a worth while buy.
nylon: the book of global style
pictures, pictures , pictures, that what this book is. i can promise you that you will not find two of the same outfits in this book. find inspiration in montreal, amsterdam ,new york and many more. its amazing how different everyone's style is!
seventeen: ultimate guide to style
this book was a drugstore buy. some of the tips are very helpful and the clothes are budget buys which is good. however, personally, some of the outfits that were put together were...interesting. i've always thought that seventeen didn't really target the average 17 year-old's sense of style...
phaidon: the fashion book
while i haven't read this book yet, it profiles each and every influential person in the fashion industry. its a handy size and fits into the smallest of bags but the printing is kind of small (thank god for good vision!)
alison lurie: the language of clothes
this is a history of fashion and goes through every different change and is in such detail, its astounding. while its an older book, the actual content is great and is definitely worth a read if you're interested in finding out more about how fashion has changed.
bonnie english: fashion
another profile of 50 influential designers (think chanel,dior and ysl) and how they helped change the fashion industry.
teen vogue: an insider's guide to careers in fashion
thinking about a career in fashion as a model, photographer, make-up artist or stylist? then this book is a MUST. each chapter features about three to five people in the industry and how they got there. its such an interesting book, even if you aren't interested in a career in fashion. i only wish they had fashion marketing or pr in there!
harriet worsley: 100 ideas that changed fashion
this book has the most amazing pictures in it and each idea is only a page long but has everything you need to know in it. this is definitely one of the more creative books i've seen as it doesn't emphasize a certain designers impact over the fashion industry. i also like how the ideas are in chronological order so its a bit of a history lesson as well :)

this outfit photographed far better than i thought. don't you hate when outfits look good from the front, but not nearly as well from the back? we were in the workshop today for interior design class (and we will be for the next week), so i had to take that into consideration this morning. plus, it's getting to be below 5 degrees Celsius on some days and i still need to shop for tights and leggings.

after an autumn browse at the mall, i decided to take on the challenge of layering. (i don't stop shopping summer until October, haha. nor is my sunny soul adept at wearing more two articles of clothing at a time on more upper body.) anyhow, this is my slouchy, academic creation; let me know how i did and what i could try for next time! i also found a new staging area- my backyard.

to my own surprise, i've been reading (adolescent bookworms unite!) a tremendous amount lately, which i attribute to the free time allowed by a lenient workload. the book shown here is entitled "Secrets to Happiness", and i'm currently a couple chapters into another, "Relative Happiness" by Lesley Crewe. both have turned out to be very pleasant reads.
