if you haven't heard of hollerado , go check them out NOW ! they are amazing, funny and fantastic live :) i wanted to mix menswear pieces with "hippie" pieces for a different take on my style. truthfully, i tried on at least ten different outfits before settling on this one. the choices we have to make , haha !

To be honest, I worried less about how I looked, and more about how I sweat like a madwoman at concerts. They're the one place I won't wear heels (because everyone knows I'll wear heels anywhere else). Jewellery can a hazard when dancing with your eyes closed, so I went with this bright, lightweight top. It can stand on its own, not to mention being very airy and unrestrictive. (Granted, I'd think twice before going crowdsurfing in a crop.)

summer to fall florals + ootd (10/01/2011)
i never used to be aware of seasonal colours in clothing. sure, there was the association of orange with october holidays, red and green with christmas, light pastels with spring flower buds, but nothing dictated what time of year i could or couldn't wear my bright blue sweater or green Converse hi-tops.
granted, i never was (and never will be) the guy who wore shorts and a t-shirt in the middle of winter. so here i am trying to get the last out of summer, well aware that as of the 23rd, it is now autumn.
a sloppy first attempt at a lady gaga-esque hair bow (tutorial video here). if you've seen it in other photos, you'll know that my hair has a mind of its own. it looks straight for the most bit, but is ridiculously thick when you actually try to style it. the whole thing collapsed after my first class, so i spent the rest of the day in an equally sloppy low side ponytail/bun.
anyways, the lesson here is that while summer is bright and easy, neutrals (browns in particulars) are the biggest sign of autumn. simply adding a brown button-up sweater (does it constitute a cardigan?) transforms what was formerly a summer evening outfit. i'm still wearing my sandals; luckily they're a neutral colour, but the cork wedges are a complete miss! time to go find a pair of platform booties.
they're a bit roughed up, and i'm kind of disappointed in the quality of these sandals. i've only had them for a year, and i've already had to get a strap fixed. on the other hand, i've had good nine west shoes as well, so go figure.
the weather got drastically cold this morning, enough that i had to pull out my yellow jacket. i have missed it so. funny thing about these pants is that i haven't worn them since 2007. once again, i've reverted to my "any colour, any time", but at least i'm colour blocking. is that progress at all?

ps. no fans or artificial indoor breezes were used in this photo. my hair's just cool like that.

gossip girl
so season five of gossip girl premiered on monday. can we please just discuss the AMAZING fashion choices made in this episode?! i can't remember there being an episode where i didn't hate at least one of the outfits someone was wearing, probably because vanessa was no where to be seen (thank god!). i love how nate and chuck had different shades of blue on when they were waiting at the limo for serena. it had that effortless/beachy chic vibe of hollywood while no drastically changing their style. i have to admit, i'm a huge chuck fun (he is soooo attractive) and when he wore that leather jacket, my jaw actually dropped! i loved that he wore a shirt underneath, he made the jacket his own. damn he looked good! usually i like serena's outfits but feel that her skirts/dresses/shorts are very short however i loved everyone of her outfits on this episode! the dress she wore to the hollywood party, it was the perfect combination of covered up and revealing. she seems to have added some la to her style as well! queen blair, i adore her style. what i would give to trade closets with her! i have to admit that i wasn't completely sold on the white and green dress, i think the shape was a little strange...i loved the dress she wore in the Vogue photoshoot, i wouldn't necessarily say i'd wear it as a wedding dress but it was pretty. i can't wait to see the wedding, if it happens!
so now, some questions for you?
is dorota really pregnant or is she just covering up for blair? do you like blair and the prince together? did serena deserve the job? what's going on with "ivey"/when will serena find out?! and what was your favourite look from the episode?! i'd love to hear your thoughts.
